Here at Greenways Nursery School, we want to support you, the parent, in bringing up your child.
At Greenways, each child is assigned a keyperson and, in the absence of their nominated keyperson, a second keyperson. This helps to ensure that every child's learning and care is tailored to meet their individual needs, by building a relationship with each keychild and their parents/carers to find out their child's interests and likes/dislikes. Your child’s key person will make regular observations in order to assess individual needs and to plan accordingly. The keyperson will also help your child to become familiar with the Nursery, creating a relationship for the child and will also build a relationship with you, their parents or carers. The keyperson will work with you to support you in guiding their child's development at home, and will also help you to engage with more specialist help, such as speech therapy, if necessary.
Your child’s key person will liaise informally at the beginning and end of each session to discuss any concerns/information you wish to share. We use the Tapestry on-line system to record a child's interests and progress; to agree targets and areas for development and to share how you can help your child's development at home.
Each area of learning and development is implemented through planned, purposeful play and a mix of child-initiated and adult-led activity.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, of which further information can be found at:
